Thoma Holz GmbH

Thoma Holz was founded in 1990 by the Austrian forester and business economist Dr. Erwin Thoma. His vision was to build homes from 100% natural, moon-phase felled, domestic softwood from sustainable forestry, free of wood preservatives and glue.

In collaboration with more than a hundred timber construction companies, Thoma Holz has already realized its goal of building the healthiest family homes more than 2,500 times in around 30 countries worldwide. Its Holz100 construction system achieves outstanding results in terms of thermal insulation, energy consumption and fire protection.

The manufacturing process of Thoma Holz also follows a strictly sustainable approach and have become a blueprint for a waste-free circular production. It manufactures its buildings in factories that run entirely on solar energy. The production of the timber modules is highly material-efficient. Raw material waste is thermally recycled and supplies the production facilities with energy. Thoma Holz is following the example of the forest: everything stays in the cycle and creates a sustainable future for the next generations.

In recent years, Thoma Holz has also applied its knowledge to commercial buildings such as the hotel Forsthofalm and the office and business park ArcheNeo both in Austria. The construction of the new city hall in Venlo, Netherlands, followed a strict cradle-to-cradle concept and relied on Thoma Holz to supply all timber materials. With these forward-looking commercial projects, Thoma Holz has set new standards for green buildings.

Thoma Holz safeguards the efficiency and quality of its products with its own sawmill, planning mill and two manufacturing plants. Moreover, at its in-house research center, it is constantly advancing its timber construction technology.
