Markus Bodenmeier
Smileabit GmbH
Originally from a family of entrepreneurs, Markus founded his first design and process automation company while still a student. Within a very short time, his company advanced to become a global outsourcing partner for major customers such as Infineon, Osram, Siemens, BMW, BHS Corrugated and Otelo. In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Markus built up the private client department for Reuschel Bank, a German private bank, in the mid-1990s. In 2000, he became an assistant to the management board of today’s Telefonica O2, where he coordinated the de-merger with BT Mobile and the merger with British Telecom, which then led to the IPO. One of his key successes was the IPO of HPI AG, a leading European industrial service provider in the field of purchasing and logistics. In this context, he also built up one of Europe’s leading fleet managers.
Markus Bodenmeier is Managing Director of the investment holding company smileabit GmbH, which is invested in numerous high-tech start-ups. As an impact investor, he is involved in the Treems nature conservation project, among others, and is also a co-founder and member of the advisory board of the Climate Endowment Group, a climate-focused investment company.
